How the Extension Works

Watchman analyzes AI responses entirely within your browser using pattern-matching technology. When you visit a supported AI platform (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, Grok, or X.com), the extension:

• Reads the AI response text displayed on the page
• Compares it against The Berean Standard (our 28-point framework) using local pattern matching
• Displays discernment indicators directly on the page

This entire process happens locally in your browser. No data leaves your device.

Permissions Explained

Watchman requires the following browser permissions:

• Storage: Saves your extension preferences (like enabled/disabled status) locally in your browser
• Scripting: Allows the extension to analyze page content and display discernment indicators
• ActiveTab: Provides access to the current tab when you interact with the extension
• Notifications: Enables optional alerts for significant theological concerns (you can disable this)
• Host Permissions (AI sites only): Allows the extension to run on supported AI platforms: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, Grok, and X.com

Third-Party Services

Watchman does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or data collection services. We do not integrate with Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any similar services.

Data Security

Since we do not collect or transmit any data, there is no data to secure on our servers. Your preferences are stored locally in your browser's extension storage, which is protected by your browser's built-in security.

Children's Privacy

Watchman does not collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced through the extension update notes.
